A time to face your shadow side: Welcoming the Lunar Eclipse + Full Moon in Libra

10 of PentaclesAs if it wasn’t enough to start this current lunar cycle with a New Moon in Pisces and Solar Eclipse, a couple weeks later the Full Moon in Libra is here and, you guessed it, it’s a Lunar Eclipse, too.

How did that eclipse feel to you? Personally, I felt super energized by it but couldn’t help but notice a certain level of frenetic energy wherever I went. It seemed like the whole city was supercharged that day.

It also seemed to bring a feeling of something BIG on the horizon. What might be coming your way? Again, for me personally, I am going through a chapter in my life where surrender is becoming a daily, necessary practice, and so I am staying open to whatever is on the way.

So what’s happening with this week’s Full Moon on Wednesday, March 23? It’s in Libra, and corresponds to October’s New Moon in Libra, which might have brought up questions with you about balance, self-care, creativity, collaborations and relationships.

What was initiated for you in October could be coming up for examination now, or to fruition. This makes sense with the Ten of Pentacles having appeared here; the Tens often indicate completions and cycles coming to an end. And with this card being so concerned with family, friends, stability, and security, it blends perfectly with some of Libra’s priorities for us.

But this Full Moon has the potential to bring us to some interesting depths – and no, they don’t need to be depths of despair.

Lunar Eclipses work in the shadows, meaning that they have the ability to bring forward the aspects of ourselves that we’ve been ignoring, or denying. With this Full Moon in Libra, those same areas mentioned above could be affected.

But this also gives us a prime opportunity to get real about what needs to change. A Full Moon Lunar Eclipse is the ideal time to release what’s no longer working – think of it as literally a time to eclipse something from your life once and for all.

This doesn’t mean suppressing it, or ignoring it further. It means finally coming to face the facts and recognizing what needs to change and let go of.

For example, if you are a creative person and haven’t been making time for your art even though you know you need to, this Lunar Eclipse can be the perfect time to work on that.

Make a list of everything you can stop doing in order to make more time for your creativity, even if those things are mindset shifts, such as having a fear of saying “no” to other people, or feeling like work or errands always have to come first.

And don’t be surprised if this eclipse brings up resentments, or things that you have been brushing off in your relationships. Something that you have been telling yourself is trivial, when it’s actually starting to grate at you, could become the straw that breaks the camel’s back this week.

But remember, if you are open to the realizations that this Lunar Eclipse offers, then great change can occur throughout the next six months.

Remember, too, that the power of this eclipse will take root on Wednesday, but its effects can hang around days after, and the changes it will stir up can start be seen throughout the next six months.

So be intentional with what you are ready to let go of. Surrender where you need to. Bring an end to any patterns or behaviours that are no longer serving you.

If you want to be more of something, let go of the qualities that are holding you back from that. If you want to be less of something, ask yourself what it’s time to stop doing.

Lunar Eclipses can offer the chance of deep, personal discovery. The more you open yourself up to this week’s Moon energy, the more change you can create.

Here’s a mantra for you to work with this week:

I embrace whatever change is on the horizon, because I know that it will bring me one step closer to where I need to be.

And if you have your own deck of tarot cards and want to do a reading for this Lunar Eclipse, here is a spread you can try at home:

1. What is in the shadows of this Lunar Eclipse?
2. What is a step I can take towards letting it go?
3. Where can I bring more balance into my life?
4. What can I look forward to releasing throughout the next six months?

Until next time,

Liz xo
