Final intentions for 2017 and a quick look into the astrology of the New Year

Page of Swords StarchildI know that many of you out there are taking some time off this week for the holidays, so I will keep this update short and sweet.

First, I want to say thank you for being here with me. Out of all the writing I have done over the years, these weekly forecasts remain one of my favourite things to write.

Whether you have been reading these updates since the very start, or have just recently joined me here, thank you. It means so much to me to be able to share these messages with you each week.

I pulled the Page of Swords for this week’s forecast, a card of clarity and decisiveness, of learning and embracing new beginnings.

And isn’t that what so much of this time of year is about? Whether you subscribe to New Year’s resolutions or not, there is no question that change is all around us.

The idea of having a whole year ahead of you can feel like a clean slate. It’s an exciting time to start fresh somewhere, somehow, if that’s what you need right now.

Saturn is slowly easing into the sign of Capricorn, where it’s only been for a week.

Soon, Uranus will go direct again. It’s been retrograde since August 3 and will station direct on January 2.

Later in the spring, Uranus will leave the unpredictable energy of Aries to enter Taurus, initiating us into a whole new chapter individually and collectively.

Uranus goes direct the day after we welcome Cancer Full Moon – the first Full Moon of 2018 comes on January 1. There are two full moons in January, making the first month of the year particularly powerful.

Last week, when we observed the last New Moon of 2017, I said to make it count. It was in Sagittarius, helping us into a lunar cycle that encourages big thinking, big dreams.

If you haven’t yet set an intention, it’s not too late. The Page of Swords reminds us that we can always carve out a new pathway when we need it. As we get ready to say goodbye to this past year, and think about what we might want for ourselves in the next, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on where you are at right now.

Think on what came up for you throughout the past twelve months: All that you said and did, and whether there is anything that got left behind.

What would you change? What would you keep exactly the same? What did you learn or experience?

Consider how you have changed, and whether you are walking through life a little differently these days.

What kind of person are you as you prepare to enter 2018? Who are you at this moment, and who might you be in another year’s time?

Here’s a mantra to take with you in these last days of the year:

I am all that I need.

Until next time (and next year),
