This week brings a dynamic mix of different approaches and a change in pace and perspective.
Pluto has been retrograde since April 24. On Thursday, October 3 the planet of regeneration stations direct.
As an outer planet, Pluto’s influence for us here on Earth is subtle, something that tends to rise up from the subconscious. It can take its time in showing us what it wants, and what kind of work it can invoke within our lives.
As Pluto moves through the sign of Capricorn, the change it can inspire relates to the ways in which we our relationships to work, money, the Earth, and our own ambitions must now evolve.
It calls for paradigm shifts around the power imbalances that we experience in our workplaces. And the ways in which the pressures of capitalism, the economy, and the incessant need to produce affect us on physical and spiritual levels.
In April when Pluto retrograde was about to begin, I put these three questions out into this space:
How do you relate to society’s expectations of work?
How do you see yourself reflected in the current systems and models?
How do you feel you’re working within outdated roles or perceptions?
This week can be a good time to sit down and reflect on these questions, and how these feelings have manifested for you since the spring. As we move towards 2020, the universe is priming us for change – let’s be hopeful about what new ways can emerge, and be conscious of our own actions to ensure we are showing up in the best ways possible.
The same day Pluto goes direct, Mercury enters Scorpio, the sign it will stay in until December 9. Mercury has an extra-long stay in Scorpio this year due to a retrograde period from October 31 – November 20 that we’ll discuss in greater detail in a few weeks.
In the meantime, Mercury in Scorpio is asking you to get down the bones of your personal truths. It will highlight the games people play, the illusions that bureaucracy upholds, the unnecessary facades that people project.
“Be real,” Mercury in Scorpio says. “Take off the mask. Don’t be afraid if people can’t handle what they see. Don’t you know reality feels dangerous to some? Be the one who helps to change that. Be the one who shows the way to honesty, even if they try to tell you you’re the one who’s wrong.”
Not that everything has to be blunt – no. I pulled the Temperance card for this week’s message, an energy that reminds us that the swing of the pendulum can be gentle and kind. That we each have the choice to walk through this life like angels.
Mars enters Libra on Friday, October 4, softening the edges of Mercury in Scorpio.
Mars is in detriment in Libra, meaning that the planet of action is tempered by Libra’s insistence that it take the whole picture into perspective before it jumps to conclusions, rushes to reach the end, or bowls anyone over just to get what it wants.
How much do we need that kind of energy right now? In a world where it seems like everyone’s insistence to be right is the pervasive cause of so much personal and global conflict (hello, internet culture anyone?) it’s more important than ever that we each remind ourselves to stop and remember that there can be many ways to look at a situation, and that the loudest person in the room is not always the only one that needs to be heard.
Until next time,
