How is October unfolding for you so far?
Just last week, I was talking about how exciting it was to see the Star come up for the week’s forecast. This week, the Three of Pentacles is back. How many times has this card appeared here throughout the year? I might go back and count, just for fun…
Though it does make sense to see it here. The Moon is still in it waxing phase all this week, which means that plans and projects you set in motion on September 30 can continue to grow and take shape. It’s also a great time to get moving on something new if you haven’t already. Waxing moons are good times to begin things.
And that’s what the Three of Pentacles is all about: Creating a solid foundation, connecting the dots, and putting in the work early on in order to set yourself up for success. It’s also about ensuring you have what you need physically, emotionally, and spiritually in order to see your plans through.
With the Three of Pentacles, synchronicity can be on your side. It can feel like the right people cross your path, the right information or opportunity appears when you need it, and you have the right ideas and energy to make something happen.
I feel like that’s the kind of thing that can happen all week. We start out with the Moon in social, innovative Aquarius, and then it moves into dreamy, spiritual Pisces on Thursday. If you’re ready to be wide open to serendipity and the omens around you, this is a great week to feel like you’re in flow with life.
But don’t just let the current pull you along. No, no, no. It’s important to strike a balance by letting life shape you, and letting it decide everything for you. Take influence and inspiration where you like, but don’t completely hand over the reins – especially on a week like this.
Because when Sunday, October 16, rolls around, it brings the Full Moon in Aries.
This is a Full Moon in fire energy. Think back to what was coming up for you in early April, when the New Moon was in Aries. This week’s Full Moon can act as a check-in point, or even bring something from the spring to completion.
Sometimes people get nervous about fiery moons, but that can be because these moons will push you to assert yourself.
It isn’t always easy to step into our own power, or even to recognize it. As the first sign of the zodiac, Aries is all about being first. It’s an active, visionary, creative sign that can really make things happen when it wants to, but only on its own terms.
This weekend’s Full Moon can be a great time to look at where you might be ignoring your own power. Full Moons are powerful times of illumination, but also of release.
Where do you dim your own lights? Where do you hesitate to fully step into an idea or way of being that you feel so compelled to live in, but can’t quite figure out how to make it happen yet?
Where do you sometimes hold your tongue, in turn suppressing something you desperately need to get into the open?
Every time we hesitate to express ourselves, to be ourselves, we make a little harder to access the greater potential that’s waiting within.
Many societies tell us to believe we can be and do anything we want, but in actuality, that cliché comes with a lot of stipulations. We’re only encouraged to be who we are if we have the right clothes and the right vocabulary, the right education and the right age and the right look…
But for what? And why? Aries questions authority. It breaks the rules in order to make new ones. That’s why its energy can feel so strong.
But that strength is also what you can use to uncover your true nature – your fire within.
What rules might you want to leave behind on this Full Moon? What fears or doubts might need to go?
Light a candle, write down anything you’re ready to release, and then burn the paper. (Please do so safely – yes, we’re working with the fire element here, but let’s make sure there’s no real fire in the process!)
You don’t have to know how you’ll release these things. Don’t worry if you don’t have all of the answers as you’re things out. It can be simple:
1. I release the fear that keeps me from changing jobs…
2. I let go of the inability to say what’s really on my mind…
3. I say goodbye to negativity that surrounds me….
Whatever it is that’s feeling like it’s holding you back, this is the Full Moon to let it go and welcome in a new sense of power and potential.
If it helps, here is a mantra that you can use in the days leading up to the Full Moon in Aries:
I am ready to feed the fire within.
And if you have a tarot deck of your own want to use it to connect to this weekend’s Full Moon, here is a simple spread you can try:
1. What part of my power is it time to ignite?
2. What must I let go of in order for this to happen?
3. What vision is it time for me to follow?
4. What rule is it time for me to break?
Happy Full Moon!
Until next time,
p.s. I’ll be hosting a Full Moon gathering in Toronto this Sunday, October 16, in time for this Aries Moon. I’d love to see you there. Tickets are available here.
