In the shadow of the Gemini Full Moon and the early days of Mercury retrograde

threeofcrystalsIn all my time writing these forecasts, I think the Three of Crystals – also known as the Three of Pentacles – has been one of the most common cards to appear.

When I work with tarot, I often see this as a card of building blocks. It reminds us of the importance of working from a solid foundation. It asks: “What is the health of ground you stand on at this time?”

Look down at your own foundation this week. What do you see?

Are there cracks in the foundation? And if so, where are they sprouting from? Where is doubt creeping into your confidence?

Are there any thick, healthy roots sprouting from the soles of your feet? How deep down do they go? What can you count on? What are you willing to stand firm with?

Or maybe, you are not feeling solidly planted on any foundation at this time. Maybe you have cut yourself loose from where you once stood. Maybe you found yourself uprooted this year and are still looking for a new place to plant some seeds.

We are fresh into the final month of the year. We are also in the final days of the fall season.

This is the time of year when many of us will begin to review and re-evaluate where we stand and where we want to go once the new year arrives.

Yesterday, we welcomed the Gemini Full Moon, along with Mercury retrograde. Gemini is ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication and ideas, information and connection.

This could be the beginning of bigger ideas coming to light. When I talk about the Three of Crystals as a card that prompts you to look at the strength of your foundation, I say this because yesterday was the beginning of a three-week long journey towards clarity.

Mercury retrograde periods can feel tense because they make often make us aware of flaws in the system. They have a way of making us see the vulnerabilities in our plans, the improvements that can be made.

They make us do things over again because we need a second chance – whether we know it or not – to get it right.

With Mercury currently in the fiery, optimistic sign of Sagittarius, this retrograde might also challenge your ideals versus your reality and push you to find a viable plan to move ahead.

If you have been struggling for clarity this year, 2017’s final weeks can hold some new answers to help. Mercury retrograde periods have a way of bringing new insights to the surface and show us alternate routes to follow.

What would you like to feel clearer about?

Which ideas have shone brightest for you in 2017?

Which ideas might have to be put to rest, or revisited later?

What do you need to give yourself permission to express?

These are a few questions to explore in the weeks to come.

This week also starts off with the Moon in opposition to Saturn, which can add an additional layer of pressure, worry, and doubt. If you find yourself suddenly questioning your current trajectory, or are filled with uncertainty where there was none before, you might be tuned into this transit.

Saturn often asks us to pay attention to what we could be doing better, or what we might need to think-through more thoroughly first. It seems to ask, “Are you sure you can pull that off?”

Even though it may feel like a critical inner voice at times, Saturn really has our best interests in mind. It doesn’t want you to give into the doubt it stirs up, but instead to use it constructively, ensuring you avoid potential catastrophes by checking your blind spots sooner rather than later.

If it helps, here’s a mantra to take with you in the days ahead:

I am taking care of the health of my foundation.

Until next time,
