What a week ahead, and what a way to start off the early days of June.
Hot-headed Mars just moved into soft-hearted Cancer on Sunday, June 5. Warrior Mars is in the realm of gentle, intuitive grace.
Here, we face lessons that challenge our expression. Mars in Cancer might make us look at where our words and actions are causing the most friction to those around us. So often, our comments and questions can unintentionally hurt someone else.
We cross boundaries without knowing it. We make little cuts into someone else’s heart when we don’t pay attention to what’s being said or done, or why we are saying it.
Mars in Cancer can also slow us down a bit, to look at our own inner warrior and check in with it: What are we fighting right now? What wounds are we still battling over? What wounds have we ignored?
What is our warrior even doing at this time? Is it active, or dormant? Is it fighting what’s necessary, or not fighting at all?
Tomorrow, Tuesday, June 6, Venus moves into Taurus. Venus has been in Aries since April 28, its second visit to the sign of the ram this year. Venus is challenged in Aries, but in Taurus? Hello! This is where it really gains power. It makes so much sense to see that the Nine of Crystals is the card that showed up for this week’s forecast, because the energy of this card is so well attuned to Venus in Taurus.
Venus rules Taurus, so it’s right at home in this earthy, sensual, luxurious sign. Venus brought up a lot of important lessons for many of us while it was in Aries this year, but now things can start to flow in a more relaxed direction. This is a time to focus on abundance, self-esteem, love, art, beauty, and whatever makes you feel comfortable and safe.
Mercury also makes a move tomorrow, into the sign of Gemini, which it rules. We are still in Gemini season, with the Sun in this smart, social sign until June 21. Mercury rules our thoughts, ideas, conversations, and connectivity.
It can be hard to find focus at times when there is so much to say and so much to do – this is busy energy – but if you are willing to channel it, great breakthroughs await. This is a powerful time to work on any writing, learning, blogging, or other projects that get your ideas happening.
With Venus and Mercury both moving into their ruling signs this week, things can really start to flow. This year so far has brought some heavy tones for so many, personally and globally, but my feeling on the days to come is that there is a gentle shift that can help to give your spirit a boost.
This Friday, June 9, is another big day: the Full Moon in Sagittarius arrives at 9:10am EST, and Jupiter goes direct an hour later at 10:03am EST.
Jupiter retrograde started in early February. The planet of luck and opportunity hasn’t been operating at its full power these past few months. But now, it will be moving ahead again, opening up doors for us and helping to show where our growth and opportunity sits.
Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, and here we have this beautiful, fiery Full Moon that same morning. As I write this, it makes me think of a portal opening up: What are you ready to step through to?
What has been growing and expanding in your life these past six months, when you think back to the New Moon in Sagittarius that we had on November 29? Sagittarius is always aiming for something beyond its reach.
It strives towards the freedom and promise of new horizons, always wanting to stretch its limits, never satisfied by imposed structures or rules.
This Full Moon might illuminate areas where you are ready to feel freer. It might make you realize you can’t stay where you are anymore. It might wake you up to a new possibility, one that will ask you to leave behind an old story that doesn’t fit anymore.
This week is full of new energy, new growth, and new potential. What do you want to do with it?
If it helps, here is a mantra for you to work with in the days ahead:
I set the intention to open to new realms. I am ready to explore a new world.
And if you read tarot and would like to connect with the cards for this week’s energies, here is a tarot spread to try at home:
1. What idea is it time for me to follow?
2. What is it time for me to love?
3. What is it time for me walk away from?
4. What is it time for me to move towards?
