Welcome to the end of this spring’s Mercury retrograde!
As I’ve mentioned before, Mercury retrogrades get a lot of hype, but they don’t create as much havoc as some people might have you believe. Depending on where Mercury is in your chart, you could instead experience these retrogrades as a time to re-do something, or re-examine an area of your life.
I got retrograded this month when I was suddenly swept up in some work on my website. I’ve been meaning to give it a makeover for a while now, but last Tuesday my entire being was screaming for it to happen. So I hunkered down for a few days and got ‘er done. (And added a few new offerings in the process – yay!)
Mercury rules ideas and communication, which is why things can feel like they’re going awry. An idea you’ve had about yourself could come up for review.
Or you could feel like you have to do everything twice, because your point isn’t getting across.
People can be more forgetful than usual during a Mercury retrograde. Misunderstandings between friends, family, and lovers can come up, but ultimately these moments can serve as ways where can all better connect and understand each other. Or, sever some relationships that have run their course.
Things can also feel like they are slower to get off the ground with a Mercury retrograde, especially if you’re in a job that involves a lot of writing or communication, or if you’re trying to get going on a project but seem to be hitting roadblocks.
These are times when it can seem to take longer to get an answer on something, or contacts go AWOL.
But Mercury went direct again yesterday, and the Sun moved into Gemini on Friday. Mercury is Gemini’s ruling planet, and so with the Sun now illuminating such an idea-oriented sign, we are set up for things to feel like they can speed up again.
If you’ve felt stuck, blocked, or foggy these past few weeks, Mercury’s power is clearing up and can help bring the solutions and answers you’ve been waiting for. And depending on where these planets are in your chart, you might find that these next few weeks bring you more ideas than you’re ready to sign up for.
The Sun card showed up for this week’s forecast, which bodes well overall for inspiration, joy, and happiness. I feel like overall the mood is going to start to shift towards a new sense of optimism, especially with Gemini’s influence gaining power throughout the next month.
The Sun is also a very literal card in that it speaks to a new day, a new dawn. After even the hardest nights and wildest storms, the Sun will always find its way back to you. This card can be reflecting the revelations and realizations that you’ve been gifted through Mercury’s retrograde, showing that they are going to light your way.
Plus, with the Moon now waning, a lot of work can be done to bring something to a close or to work at releasing old energy, habits, and routines.
As I was preparing this week’s forecast, I came across an old horoscope by Rob Brezsny of Free Will Astrology. I find it’s a fitting message to work with the current astrological alignments, while tapping into the vibe of that Sun card:
“’There was another life that I might have had, but I am having this one.’ So says a character in Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel The Unconsoled. At this juncture in your life story, it might be healing for you to make a similar declaration. Now is an excellent moment to say a final goodbye to plot twists that you wished would happen but never did. To do so will free up stuck energy that will then become available for future projects. You may even awaken to exciting possibilities you haven’t imagined yet.”
Breakthroughs will come as Mercury gains power. This is a season of high possibility. A new wave of inspiration is on its way.
Here’s a mantra you can work with throughout the week:
I am ready for new possibilities to enter my path. I invite inspiration out of the shadows and embrace future ideas.
