The Knight of Cups showed up for this week’s forecast. When I was pulling this card, I was thinking about Pluto, which has been retrograde since April 20.
Pluto retrograde can bring up a lot of introspection. Deep realizations and buried or repressed memories can come up during Pluto retrograde. Pluto can instigate serious shadow work, helping us to look at the things we would rather not acknowledge, or the things we haven’t realized need healing until now.
Over the past few months, you might have found yourself thinking back to certain past events and taking note of how much influence those experiences still have on you, for better or for worse.
For me personally, I surprised myself this summer in thinking about old ties I’ve to certain friends. I started to question whether I’ve outgrown relationships that were once hugely important to me. I started to see how much of my old adolescent fear of being accepted was still playing out in decisions I was making in regards to certain relationships, in hanging on unnecessarily.
It isn’t always easy to admit how much of your older identities can live on through your current relationships. By deciding to let certain people go, I’ve started to see that I have much more strength than I believed I did when I first entered into those relationships to begin with.
There can be growth and progress with Pluto retrograde, but it isn’t always easy. That’s why I was so interested to see the Knight of Cups here, as this card carries a certain depth and mood to it. We see a woman walking away from two cups.
In tarot, the cups connect to the heart and the emotional realm. Perhaps here, this card is showing that it’s time to leave some old feelings behind as Pluto stations direct this Thursday, September 28. Pluto will form a trine to Venus and Mars, both in Virgo.
This is an excellent time to shift power dynamics between yourself and others, especially when it comes to any imbalances between what you give, and what you get.
Perhaps you want to take a moment in the coming days to observe any emotional thresholds you’ve crossed since the spring. If you’d like to take inspiration from this message, you could fill two glasses with water on Wednesday night, before Pluto moves forward, to represent the emotions you’re letting go of, or moving away from.
Let them sit overnight and in the morning watch them spill away. Consider this a symbolic gesture of letting go of something from the past.
If it helps, here is a mantra to work with for the week ahead:
It is easier for me to grab onto my future when I have let go of my past.
Until next time,
