“The Full Moon is turning up the heat in the boiling cauldron of your inner transformation. Look back to the events around the New Moon of May 18 to get an idea of what’s on your agenda now. You are being ushered into a deep and fulfilling era in your life. Solutions to crucial issues are coming to your rescue.”
– Phil Booth, astrologer
Today’s Full Moon in Sagittarius rolls in during a Mercury Retrograde, which began on May 18th in correspondence to the New Moon. Typically, we can work with the energy of a New Moon to plant the seeds of what we want to manifest or set into motion.
But with this current moon cycle kicking off in conjunction with a retrograde, have you felt any changes begin from within? Before we manifest anything outside of ourselves, our intentions need to begin from within. During a retrograde, these changes can start as small.
They may come to us an idea about how to improve a project we’re currently working on.
They may come in the form of a person – even simply a stranger or a new acquaintance who makes a simple comment that inadvertently changes your perspective.
They may come simply as an inclination to sit down and write down your bucket list, or map out your priorities for the next six months.
To give you an example, my retrograde experiences have included a complete revise of the story arc for a main character in my novel-in-progress (leading to major rewrites, but they are rewrites accompanied by glee because I FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT!); the realization that I can do something I never before thought would be possible (but wished it could be); and the inclination to revisit some old sources of inspiration, only to find that they still hold just as much magic for me as they always did.
(See the repetition of “re” in there? Revise
, rewrite, realization, revisit – this is what retrograde does – “retro” has us look back and re-working what we need to. It helps push us back onto our proper paths.)
This current astral cycle is asking you something: “Where do you see your future self?”
You don’t need to simply react to these astral energies, waiting for inspiration or a conversation to strike up. This Full Moon is an ideal time to get proactive about answering that question and brings with it an unstoppable energy – the element of Fire – that helps us tap into our creativity and ambition.
If you feel that things have stalled for you lately, or you feel that your tensions have been on the rise these past couple of weeks, today is the day you can take a step to regain control.
This morning I asked the Tarot, “what do I need to know today?” I pulled the Three of Crystals reversed. This is very fitting for today’s Full Moon, and I wanted to share this reading with you so that you, too, can take it to heart today if its energy resonates with you.
The Three of Crystals reversed prompts us to make important plans. This is the card that wants us to pause before we dive into something (perfect for a retrograde!) and figure out exactly what is we want, and what we need to do to get there.
It’s also a good time to look back at your past goals. Do you still want what you’ve been working for? Or do those goals feel old and tired now? Have you changed too much to feel that they fit you they way they used to?
It’s okay to let them go. It’s okay to say that something made sense at the time, but that your future has bigger, better plans for you.
Write down your list. Meditate on where you see yourself. There are two more weeks left in this Moon cycle – what do you want to manifest in the short-term? How will it help you get to where you want to be in six months, a year, beyond?
Where do you need to make a change? What kind of change do you want to invite into your life?
Which new beginnings do you see are taking seed?
What can you say YES to right now?
If you like, you can create a ritual around this today for the Full Moon. Find some quiet time to light a candle, sit quietly for a few minutes, and then start mapping your plans.
Good luck! I would love to hear about what you’re manifesting for yourself.
