The Moon is waxing this week, growing from this weekend’s beautiful New Moon in Pisces. That means it’s a great time to rev up your energy and take charge of whatever you need to.
The Four of Cups shows up for this week’s message. Often, this is a card of solitude and introspection, and traditionally connects to apathy, pessimism, and sadness. It often appears when someone is focused so much on everything that they feel is going wrong that they’re missing out on what’s still going right in their world.
I think we’ve all been there from time to time, no? I know I certainly have. I’ve had many days where I felt like I was on top of the world, and then one little snag in plans brought my whole mood crashing down.
So in many ways, the Four of Cups is a card of shifting perspectives. Sometimes, there might indeed be something that needs fixing. The image here, there is one spilled cup – so there’s much to savour, but what still needs to be salvaged?
These are the types of thoughts and themes that you might find yourself exploring in the weeks to come, as Venus retrograde begins on Saturday, March 4. Remember that retrogrades ask us to review, reflect, reconsider.
Venus is in Aries, a place where the planet of beauty and femininity isn’t always entirely comfortable. Aries can challenge Venus to set stronger boundaries, or re-evaluate your relationships, including your relationship to yourself and your creative core.
For some of us, this will mean giving higher priority to our own needs. Others might have to soften their edges and give more to others.
So let’s go back to that Four of Cups: What needs to re-evaluated for you? What do you mourn for you? What do you feel is lost or missing? And are you indeed focusing on the right things, or are you missing out on something beautiful that is right under your nose?
Overall, this retrograde can help you to strengthen your emotional realm. Remember that strength can come in many forms: Sensitivity, vulnerability, and kindness require just as much power as assertiveness, aggression, and confidence.
Here is a mantra you can work with throughout the week:
I am ready to receive what I deserve, and I honour my strengths in doing so.
Until next time,
