When I am overly busy and overextended, I often catch myself saying, “I feel like I’m losing myself.”
I momentarily forget about my hobbies and interests. I forget about things I’m usually excited about, or lose sight of plans I’ve been looking forward to.
I get so caught up in the present moment, and the pressing reality of being over-committed that I experience a (very) short-lived identity crisis that pushes me to stop and remember who I am, what I want, and where I am going.
The days ahead bear a similar message for all of us.
There are no planets in the element of air – the realm of our thoughts – until the Moon enters Libra later in the day on Saturday, August 31 at 7:08pm EST.
The Sun, Venus and Mars are all in earthy Virgo. On Thursday, August 29, Mercury enters Virgo, too, turning our thoughts towards more methodical, purposeful approaches to life.
This is a “one day at a time, one thing at a time” energy, an opportunity for each of us to work through any tendencies to take on too much or multi-task to the point of distraction.
On Friday, August 30, the New Moon in Virgo arrives. With trines to Saturn and Uranus, this is a powerful New Moon that puts us directly in touch with our own natural states. It encourages you to ask yourself:
What makes you feel most at home within your body?
What makes you feel most secure in this world?
What consistently rocks your boat, and what impact does this influence have on you?
What can you do to be more secure and stable within yourself?
What step do you want to take to strengthen your foundation, or to recreate it altogether?
This lunar cycle isn’t about thinking your way through these answers, but in finding concrete ways you can live your best intentions in the here and now. What are you tired of talking about, but never acting upon?
The King of Pentacles was pulled for this week’s message, a fitting image as this is the King of Earth and we have such an emphasis on this element right now. It’s a time to drop anchor, sink into your roots, and let yourself become grounded in the reality that you want to shape.
“Come back to the present,” this card says, “so that you don’t drift away and lose yourself.”
