The first New Moon of the spring season arrives this Friday, April 5 at 4:50am EST.
If you are in a part of the world where this New Moon arrives early in the morning and are feeling ambitious, you might want to get up to set some intentions with the break of dawn.
Or if the weather is not yet right (early spring can be hit or miss here in Canada) then perhaps I will light a candle early in the morning and go inward with my own reflections and ask:
Where is a new day dawning in my life?
What is breaking through for me now?
Where am I ready for a fresh start?
What is it time to initiate?
Overall, Aries season – from March 20 to April 19 – can feel like a new year. Sure, it might seem like a funny time to look at it that way as we’re still just a few months into 2019. But astrologically, Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, the sign where everything begins anew.
Aligned with the season of spring in the northern hemisphere, Aries has the job of waking things back up after winter, and after the dreaminess of Pisces season.
While January 1st is often looked to as a time of new beginnings and resolutions, I always advocate for the start of spring as a solid alternative. Some people find it so much easier to get motivated and inspired with the fiery energy of Aries lighting up the skies.
This is a time when new seeds are truly taking root and the colours are beginning to return to the plants and trees. Collectively we are starting a new cycle around the wheel of the zodiac.
The first day of Aries season started with a Full Moon in Libra on March 20. While you might have felt a marked change in mood and perspective since then, this Friday’s New Moon on April 5 can really help you get moving on something. It’s time to think about what you might do with any inspiration that’s arisen recently.
I pulled the Death card for this week’s forecast. While I don’t see Death show up too often for these messages, it fits well with the change of pace we’re moving into.
The spring season is still so new and we are shaking off of the dead of winter. As we emerge from the darker, colder days and stretching towards the light we are waking up to the new possibilities of the season ahead.
Aries energy doesn’t look back. It doesn’t get stuck dwelling over the past. It doesn’t stay hurt about what went wrong before.
It just keeps moving. Aries is the pioneer of the zodiac because it has to pave the way for the rest of the signs to follow.
With this week’s New Moon, ask yourself: “Am I facing in the right direction? Am I looking ahead, or do I have old distractions over my shoulder that are keeping me from moving at all?”
This New Moon is an opportunity for reinvention. It is an opportunity for new trails and new experiences.
And it is the opportunity for momentum, for moving forward, even if you’re not sure what you’re heading for just yet.
Sometimes all we know is that we need to move on from what’s old and done, and that knowledge alone can be enough.
So take some time at the end of the week to listen in on what your heart has to say when you ask it this:
“What am I ready to wake up to?”
