The Virgo New Moon arrives mid-week on Wednesday, September 20, opening up a new lunar cycle.
We’ve been under Virgo’s influence since August 22, but this Friday, September 22, the Sun will slip into Libra as we welcome a new season with the Fall Equinox.
Virgo is going out strong. Venus, Mars, and Mercury are all join the Sun and Moon in Virgo right now.
Virgo’s influence is often purifying and efficient. It can be a hard-working energy that shifts you into high-gear when it comes to taking care of the nitty-gritty details in your life, especially any important things you’ve lapsed on.
My experience with Virgo energy is that it doesn’t always give you what you want, but instead highlights what you need.
For example, if you’ve been pushing yourself with a busy schedule for a while, Virgo might suddenly slow you down if what you really need is a break. It doesn’t matter whether you want that break or not.
Virgo also guides us through the transition between summer and fall. It’s the sign that helps us to get our things in order for the upcoming season. It’s the sign that helps us settle back into our routines after summer, and gets us thinking about what we’d like to focus on for the fall.
This is the entry point into harvest time, when we begin to take stock of what’s come together this year and what still needs our attention before the calendar changes over into 2018.
The Nine of Wands is the card that appeared for this week’s forecast. Traditionally, this is a card of persistence and stamina. It can also bring with it a sense of futility, as it asks us to look at whether we are doing the same things over and over and getting the same (undesired or unchanged) results.
In the Starchild Tarot, the Nine of Wands feels more like a container with this image. We see a web that is poised to capture the energy floating around it, to hold it and make it whole.
With this Virgo New Moon, you might want to look at your own energy and how well it is contained.
Are you focusing your energy into the right things? Or are you letting it leak away? If it’s the latter, take note from the Nine of Wands here and ask yourself what kind of container you can create for yourself now.
What will help you feel filled up rather than depleted? What would you like to start doing differently?
If the Nine of Wands is about persistence, then what are you ready to persist with?
Think about the new season ahead and what you would like to see yourself doing in the next few months. Think about what you would like to harvest as move into the fall.
If it helps, here is a mantra for you to work with throughout the week:
I gain control when I focus my energy.
If you want to work with this Virgo New Moon, here is a tarot spread to try out:
1. Where am I putting too much energy?
2. What should I focus on instead?
3. What should I expect of myself?
4. What action can I take with this New Moon?
Until next time,
