Welcoming Virgo season

The Tower Cosmic TarotLeo season is winding down already. On Friday, August 23, the Sun enters Virgo to start us transitioning from summer to fall.

As a mutable sign, Virgo helps us adapt to the changing seasons. Late August is an in-between time for many as we prepare for all that autumn brings.

Summer is often a mix of open hope and adventure, rest and spontaneity. It holds different promises and expectations than fall’s blend of new beginnings and time-tested traditions.

And it can take some getting used to as we move from one season to the other. Hence the appearance of this week’s Tower card, mirroring the feelings that come at this time of year. They say that time flies when you’re having fun and that’s what many people get focused on doing when the Sun is gregarious Leo.

Yet our attentions now shift towards school, routines, and work mode as September approaches. The days have been getting shorter since the Summer Solstice back in June and yet the shortening light becomes ever more noticeable now.

You may find yourself reviewing and reflecting on summer plans and trying to squeeze in a few more days at the park or beach before things swing back into business as usual.

When the Sun enters Virgo, our focus becomes a little more serious, a little more conscientious. We can still enjoy the summer sunlight but in the back of our minds we’re also getting ready to shift gears.

You may already be feeling a bit of that since Mars entered Virgo yesterday, Sunday, August 18. On Wednesday, August 21, Venus will also enter Virgo. By the end of the week, the Sun, Venus and Mars will form a stellium in Virgo’s earthy energy.

As we look again on the Tower for this week’s message, it seems to echo the shift from Leo into Virgo season can feel like sometimes: As though someone is slamming on the brakes. It’s not that the fun is over, just that the change from Leo’s vibrant, roaring fires into Virgo’s slower, methodical approaches can really feel like the end of an era is here – even if it’s a miniature era the size of a single summer season.

Go easy with yourself this week as the skies may ask you to switch gears, rest up, and make a small adjustment to your daily habits to help you feel energized and inspired for what remains of the summer.

Until next time,
