There is so much astrological activity this week.
Last week, I shared insights on Uranus. Tomorrow, Tuesday, May 15, Uranus will enter Taurus for the first time since 1942.
This is the start of some major societal shifts. As I have said before, when the planets enter new eras, so do we.
Taurus slows things down. Uranus has been in Aries for the past seven years and Taurus is going to put some of that fire.
Tomorrow also brings the New Moon in Taurus, which I’m going to focus more on today. (If you missed my update on the Uranus in Taurus transit, you can get the full details here.)
The New Moon in Taurus is one of my favourite moons to work with. It connects us to the element of earth, which where things can grow.
I call it the manifestation Moon for this reason. Of course, we always have to remember that nothing comes without the commitment to follow-through.
Once Taurus knows what it wants, it commits to putting in the work. Reliable and steadfast, Taurus asks you to mirror its qualities.
This is a time to focus on intentions that connect to stability and security. These can come up through our material realities, or through our personal realms.
Ruled by Venus, Taurus connects to comfort, sensuality, and love – including the ways in which we love ourselves.
But it is a different kind of confidence than what we get through the fire signs like Aries or Leo, which can bring on the kind of energy required to get up in front of strangers and give a sale pitch. Or the kind of confidence it takes to do something daring, bold, and brash.
Taurus is softer. Taurus invites you to fall in love with who you are through small acts of self-care. Through the inner dialogue you have in front of the mirror. Through the ability to be in relationship with your natural spirit, inside and out.
Taurus’ Venusian influence also encourages you to invite love in all its forms. Perhaps there is a partnership you’d like to strengthen at this time, or a friendship you would like to see flourish.
Set your intentions with care and warmth under this New Moon. If you like, you can even get a package of seeds and imagine infusing them with your intentions. Bury them in a planter and allow them to grow in your windowsill or garden throughout the season.
Imagine that these are your intentions coming to life. As you nurture and water them, you are following-through on the action to care for what you are inviting in.
The Nine of Cups was the card for this week, which also reminds me of the importance of nurturing our desires. In tarot, the cups replenish us. They are the element of water, which earth needs in order for its soil to stay rich and fertile.
We need things to look forward to. There much joy in anticipation, in hoping for a dream to arrive.
So allow yourself to dream right now. Remember that often, things unfold in the smallest ways. Intentions don’t have to begin as major overhauls in your life, unless you want them to.
This Saturday, May 19, Venus will enter Cancer, highlighting our emotional needs, pushing us to pay attention to our deepest longings. So let those things surface. Let them guide your own self-care practices if it feels right.
On Sunday, May 20, the Sun enters Gemini, bringing us into a season of connection and community. The pace will pick up with Gemini in the mix, so enjoy these final days of Taurus season while you can.
If you want to connect with this week’s New Moon in Taurus, here is a tarot spread to help:
1. What intention can I bring forward at this time?
2. What step can I take to commit to this intention?
3. What can I do to find joy in the everyday?
4. What can I do to feel more connected with myself?
And here is a mantra for the week ahead:
I am watching my garden grow.
Until next time,
