The last New Moon of spring takes place in the sign of Gemini this Thursday, May 25.
This Moon can help us connect to themes of friendship, partnership, communication, learning, and ideas.
If you need some new inspiration, this Moon can help you to channel it.
If you’ve been waiting for the right time to start a new project or learn something new, this can be it. Gemini loves to be stimulated, to take on new intellectual territory, to mine for knowledge.
It also encourages connection.
Even though we have more ways to communicate with each other than ever before, distance and division run deep in our world. Within my own community, I find that my friends and peers are often overextended, overworked, overtired.
And I must admit that I get that way, too. I know it’s not good for me, but it’s not an easy ride to get off of sometimes. Especially living in a big, expensive city, where we are all shouldering higher costs of living, higher pressures, and our own personal ambitions.
Of course, that’s just my corner of the globe, my lived experience. There are so many other facets, so many other struggles that people out there are facing day to day just trying to get by, trying to keep everything afloat.
Technology can make us feel more connected, but it can also keep us in a space where we are skimming the surface with our relationships, hopping from one thing to the next, cancelling plans at the last minute, feeling constantly plugged in but not necessarily present in the spaces we occupy.
How perfect is it that the Lovers card showed up for this week’s forecast? The Lovers is one of the most dynamic cards in tarot. A lot of people get excited when it shows up, as it’s easy to take it as a literal indication of love and commitment.
But in traditional tarot decks, the Lovers often depicts three people. Choices must be made in order to find union.
Gemini is the symbol of the twins. In the card I’ve used here, from the Starchild Tarot, we see two people embracing. Here, connection has already been attained. Unity has arrived.
But to achieve unity, we must first choose each other.
Maybe you’ve been feeling out of touch with someone in your life lately. Maybe you’ve been craving a stronger sense of community. Maybe you’re realizing you’ve outgrown some friendships and it’s time to build some new ones.
Maybe you haven’t been feeling present in your conversations recently. Or, you’ve been noticing that others aren’t focused when they’re with you.
Maybe you’re feeling the need for a fresh start in your communication style, and your connection style. This New Moon can help with that.
The Lovers card reminds us of the dangers of ambiguity. Indecision blocks us from connection, whether it’s with others or with ourselves.
One of Gemini’s shadow sides is that it can hesitate to commit, to decide which path to choose. It is very much like what we see with the Lovers:
What are you ready to follow?
What are you ready to show up for?
Connect with this week’s New Moon to help you take a step that will solidify your identity in some way, whether it’s through an intellectual pursuit or social one, or both. This can be a turning point to help you feel more connected and committed to what you want to know, express, and share.
If it helps, here is a mantra for you to work with throughout the week:
“My power is in my ability to choose my own path.”
And if you want to work with this week’s Gemini New Moon, here is a tarot spread to help:
1. How can I best express myself during this New Moon?
2. What is it time for me to share with the world?
3. What can community mean for me?
4. What new possibility is opening up for me at this time?
And remember, if you want to book some time with me for a private reading, you can do so here.
Until next time,
