What does it mean you keep pulling the same tarot card? Read this to find out!
We’ve all had it happen: You sit down, shuffle your deck, pull out a tarot card and…it’s the same one you’ve pulled numerous times this month.
Some readers joke that they’re being “stalked” by certain tarot cards. And it can feel that way when you keep pulling the same card for days, weeks, or even months on end.
The same thing can happen to your querents, too. It’s not unusual for clients to tell me that cards I’ve pulled for them have shown up in other readings they’ve received.
But what does it mean when a card keeps showing up – and does it always meant the same thing every time?
First, it helps to remember that the chapters in our lives last more than a day. This is especially important to keep in mind if you are doing daily tarot draws, and you find yourself pulling the same card several days in a row.
The things you were preoccupied with yesterday might still be top of mind today – and depending on what you’re focusing on, the same themes could emerge for months on end in your readings.
Our lives are often full of competing priorities. Long-term projects and responsibilities are balanced with short-term activities.
Stressors can be ongoing, or fleeting. Goals can last for years, or days.
Sometimes repeating cards are great learning opportunities if you can connect them to patterns in your day-to-day life, or in your querents’: What are the feelings or circumstances these cards are reliably showing up for?
You can also consider whether these repeating cards are showing you different facets of themselves. If you are asking different questions each time, these cards might be speaking to something slightly different – how does their energy relate across each reading?
Are your repeating cards coming up in different card positions? If so, you might have an opportunity to look at the same card through a different filter each time.
Or, you could consider whether there something you are bringing to various areas of your life? Is there a “common denominator” mindset or circumstance that is influencing you on a whole?
Sometimes it’s easy to default into thinking that repeat cards are always going to mean the same thing each time, but tarot cards have many different aspects. We also grow as time goes on, and what you see in a card today might be totally different for you in a year’s time.
Next time you have a repeat card following you around, see if you can find another angle to work with it.
Until next time,
Liz
