Do you feel like your tarot readings are “chunky,” moving from one card to another rather than synthesizing the full story?
If you do, you’re not alone: It’s a common thing to get stuck on. There is a learning curve to tarot, and this is one of the bends that can take some time to move through.
The way a lot of us learn tarot is so focused on one card at a time. We learn that this card means this, that card means that. And when it comes time to put together a reading, we pull out a series of cards and try to add them together, only to realize our readings feel like they’re missing something.
How do you start to summarize what’s in front of you?
How do you start to see the bigger picture of your tarot readings?
How do you stop sounding clunky in your delivery, and start articulating your readings in a way that sounds seamless and unique?
Part of it starts with a willingness to try: To challenge yourself to push your readings to that next layer of information.
Another part of it starts with practice: Taking the time to put new language around your readings, and being willing to look for new angles, patterns, and details to see how your cards are speaking to each other.
Tarot is not a random set of 78 cards. It is one system that works as a whole. When we start to see tarot as one piece rather than a set of singular, individual cards, we can start to create a more seamless reading experience.
This is also where I propose that there is an alternative to the (often overwhelming) process of memorizing 78 tarot meanings and all of their various iterations. When you allow yourself to start to let tarot’s imagery lead the way, that overwhelm begins to lift. Suddenly, the cards become dynamic, alive, and conversational.
This is something we’re working on in Tarot Study Hall, my new online tarot community that gives readers an opportunity to practice while receiving feedback and mentorship along the way. On top of that, members enjoy monthly Q&A calls, a growing library of tarot workshops, and more.
If you’re ready for that extra push in your tarot practice, or feel you could use some feedback and guidance to take your readings to the next level, I invite you to join Tarot Study Hall.
